Kashmiri Pandits celebrate in Delhi


New Delhi: There was a wave of happiness among Kashmiri Pandits across the country after the announcement of abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir by the Central government. Many groups and organisations of Kashmiri Pandits were seen dancing and celebrating after the abrogation of Article 360.


Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD), a nodal agency affiliated to the government of India, has planned huge celebrations in the national capital later in the day. Sumeer Chrungoo, president of the KSD, said that it is a historic day for his community and it is nothing less than Diwali for them.


While talking to Times Now, Chrungoo stressed that it was Article 370 that created conditions which led to the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir. He went on to reiterate that people of his community are still willing to return to their homeland and will return once the revocation of Article 370 comes into effect.


Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was a 'temporary provision' which granted special autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir. According to this article, except for defence, foreign affairs, finance, and communications, the Parliament needed
